THE NETWORK
About BitcoinII
A clean-genesis, independent cryptocurrency network drawing on Bitcoin's proof-of-work model and fixed-supply monetary design.
What is BitcoinII?
BitcoinII (BC2) is a separate blockchain, not a token on Bitcoin and not a chain split carrying over Bitcoin balances. It was launched with a new genesis block and has its own peers, chain history, miners, and economic activity.
BitcoinII Core is the node and wallet implementation maintained by the project. It is derived from Bitcoin Core and follows many of the same engineering conventions, but BC2 has its own consensus changes and network identity.
Network characteristics
| Native asset | BC2 (BitcoinII) |
|---|---|
| Maximum supply | 21,000,000 BC2 |
| Proof of work | SHA-256 |
| Target block interval | Approximately 10 minutes |
| Subsidy halving interval | 210,000 blocks |
| Difficulty adjustment | ShockWave per block (v31.1.0) |
| Chain | Independent genesis and transaction history |
How is BC2 different from BTC?
The networks share foundational design concepts but are not interchangeable. BitcoinII's published v31.1.0 release introduces ShockWave difficulty adjustment, transaction replay protection, and consensus-level restrictions related to inscriptions and similar data use. Do not assume Bitcoin Core nodes, wallets, transaction signing, or chain data can be substituted for BitcoinII Core components.
An independently verifiable network
You can read the source code, run a full node, validate blocks and transactions for yourself, and participate without creating a website account. No webpage is required to hold BC2 once your wallet and node are configured.
The project's original whitepaper is part of its historical record. Its references to difficulty retargeting at 2,016 blocks describe the earlier design, not the present ShockWave rule.
